Commissions Policy Page

TO COMMISSION AN ORIGINAL, SIGNED PAINTING:

STEP ONE: Contact me (include your phone number) and let's talk about what you are looking for. After we talk, if we agree to move forward, artist will send a contract for client signature.

STEP TWO: Client returns the signed contract and pays 50% deposit, which is non-refundable.

STEP THREE: Artist begins work on TWO* paintings. I know people like to have a choice in the end...commissioning a work of art is a BIG commitment.

STEP FOUR: Client makes a choice between the two and pays the balance.

STEP FIVE: Artist packs and ships the painting.

COMMISSION A PAINTING

*exceptions apply if more than one painting is commissioned.

I'm happy to accept commissions to create art! We can work together in a number of different scenarios:

SCENARIO #1 'TOTAL FREEDOM'

Client says: "Eric, you're the artist. Create whatever you want. Here is a photo of the space in which it will hang."

SCENARIO #2 'SOME PARAMETERS'

Client says: "Eric, you're the artist. Create whatever you want. Size: 00' x 00'. I like blues and yellows. Make it happy and energetic (or choose your descriptors)."

SCENARIO #3 'SIMILAR TO THESE (OTHER GALBREATH) PAINTINGS'

Client says: "Eric, you're the artist. Create something 'similar' to "Painting Title" and "Painting Title". Size: 00' x 00'."

SCENARIO #4 INTERIOR DESIGNERS / ARCHITECTS

I offer courtesy to the trade. I can create a series of new paintings to fit your overall design, or work with you on higher quantities of prints.

Need to simulate an upholstery pattern, artistic 'references' to elements of the building architecture, or elements of the interior you are creating? My graphic design background kicks in and I approach the 'project' as a designer would: cohesive series of works, limited color pallette, or completely divergent, if that's what the interior calls for. Let's talk.

COMMISSION A PAINTING

My client approached me with a request, handing me her upholstery samples: "Can you create for me a painting using these colors?"

"I'd love to," I said.

When I presented the two completed paintings, she was clearly moved.

Then she took a closer look and breathed out gently "and you even used leaves and patterns from my upholstery."

She chose the painting on the left and was thrilled to see it work, just as she had pictured, in her newly designed parlor.

Within the year, I sold the other painting...it hung in the lobby of a local Tucson business.

Mr. C. approached me at one of my shows a few years ago.

As part of the show, I had hung an arrangement of 5 medium sized, similarly vibed paintings in a mozaic.

He thought that was the coolest thing, and would I be able to do something similar for him if he commissioned a piece.

Mr. C. said he loved blue hues, but that he had only one stipulation: no red!

The title of this piece: "Lacustrine Cerulean – No Red"

He loved the painting, and the title!
